D.A. Watt Consulting turns 25 in 2008
D.A. Watt Consulting was incorporated on August 1, 1983, so 2008 represents our 25th year of operation.
Things began with Entek Engineering Ltd., the in-house engineering group of Nu-West Developments. In the early 1980's, Nu-West Developments was winding down its operations and wanted to discontinue its engineering and land surveying business. Entek employees David Watt, P.Eng and Tom Medlicott, ALS saw an opportunity to retain the Entek staff to complete some outstanding projects Entek still had on its' books. Nu-West agreed and D.A. Watt Consulting Group was born.
David and Tom began adding to their small team of engineering and survey professionals with a view to providing high quality, personalized service to the private land development industry. Their initial focus was to create a strong organizational foundation during the economic ebb of the early 1980’s. Despite the difficult economy, they began hirng a talented, professional staff as an investment for the future.
There have been many changes over the years. One of the most notable was an association with traffic experts from Finn Transportation Consulting, which ultimately led to the consolidation of the two firms and the creation of D.A. Watt's Transportation division.
The company has continued to grow and has diversified from its' land development roots to include ventures into road safety consulting, highway engineering and project management. This has led to a broader corporate aim that includes both private and public sector projects ranging in scale from single RPR surveys to multi-faceted industrial and residential subdivisions encompassing the design and development of hundreds of acres and all the associated services and facilities.
Our goal today is to build on the strength of the first twenty-five years of performance by expanding our client base, adding to our team of qualified and specialized staff, and pursuing new market opportunities across Western Canada.
