D.A. Watt Consulting receives second Canadian Forces Liaison Council (CFLC) Award of Excellence
D.A. Watt Consulting received their second Canadian Forces Liaison Council (CFLC) Award of Excellence citing continued strong support for the Canadian Forces Reserves. Reservists currently make up nearly ten percent of this company. In a formal ceremony last spring, His Honour, the Lieutenant Governor of Alberta, The Honourable Norman L. Kwong, CM, AOE, presented the Award of Excellence to Mr. David Watt, P.Eng., President, D.A. Watt Consulting.
Award Citation: D.A. Watt Consulting is a leading example of a private-sector company, small in size, that “walks the talk” when it comes to support for its reservist employees. Its president, Mr. David Watt, P.Eng., received recognition from the CFLC in 2005 for its exceptional support, and the CFLC is honoured to be doing so again in 2007. As a result of its support for Canada’s military, and its understanding of the benefits that reservists bring to the civilian workplace, D.A. Watt Consulting recently adopted a military leave policy which allows reservists time off annually for training or courses of up to 2 weeks, with pay top up. As well, they now formally allow time off for operational tours, with no loss of seniority or rank. D.A. Watt Consulting’s appreciation of the qualities and related skills that reservists bring to the workplace is evident in the fact it employs three reservists – a large number for a small company – and that two of the three reservists hold key management positions within the Company. 2Lt Szarmes, P.Eng., who made the nomination for this award, is himself a recent addition to the D.A. Watt Consulting organization, and is looking at the possibility of attracting more reservists to this exceptional reserve-friendly company.
D.A. Watt Consulting, and its president Mr. David Watt, sets a consistently high standard in the private sector through its support for Canadian Forces Reservists.
